European Union grantsThanks to Poland’s accession to the European Union, Polish enterprises are now offered opportunity of receiving non-returnable EU grants, which can be devoted to carrying out a wide spectrum of activities. EU grants – an opportunity for Polish companiesIn 2004-2006 Poland had more than 12 bln euros from EU structural help at its disposal. However, according to approximate data, the biggest inflow of money, i.e. 70 bln euros, will occur in 2007-2013. The funds can be devoted to supporting investment in the regions, building infrastructure, restructuring economy and, first and foremost, to directly supporting micro, small and medium enterprises. About 15% of the funds, i.e. ca 10 bln euros, is devoted to subsidizing companies' investments, including the purchase of computer hardware, software and other undertakings connected with building IT structures of companies. EU grants are provided on a refund basis, which means that first one needs to finance the full investment and then apply for a partial refund of costs. Therefore, it is a good idea to take advantage of such an opportunity to raise money. Even today your company can start applying for EU grants. Medium enterprise – a company employing fewer than 250 employees, annual turnover of which does not exceed 50 million euros or a complete annual balance does not exceed 43 million euros.
